Last week was a whirlwind of fun.  It started with a trip to NYC to see my BFF.  She was only in town for Wednesday night and Thursday morning but we made the most of the short time by staying up late Wednesday and getting up early Thursday.  It was fun to catch up but even more fun to reminisce about the past.  As with good friends, even though we hadn’t seen each other in 2 years, it felt like no time had passed.  After she left for the train station, my husband spent the rest of the day wandering around NYC.  We had lunch in Little Italy, explored the Frick Museum and took a nap on the rocks in Central Park.  It was one of those rare easy going and relaxing days…  After NYC we headed down to Ocean City, Maryland for a weekend with my in-laws.  My husband and I ended spent all of our free time exploring Assateague Island.  We’ve been down to OC multiple times to visit his family and for some reason we never made it out to Assateague.  It’s a beautiful state park along the ocean with a herd of wild ponies that roam the island.  Friday we rode our bikes out to the island and toured around looking for the ponies.  They weren’t hard to find.  There are tons of them just walking around and standing alongside the road.  We saw a red fox, some great white herons, deer and tons of other little animals.  We headed back to the hotel as the sun was beginning to set.  The whole ride was so peaceful and beautiful.  The next day we went back to the island to run and hike on some of the trails through the island.  More wildlife…Our last day was spent in Ocean City walking on the boardwalk and shopping.  The weather really cooperated the whole weekend which was great.  It was really hard to get back into the swing of things on Monday but all good times must come to an end.  Right now I’m finallystarting to get the itch back for some more consistent training which always makes me happy.  Time to start planning for next season!!!!
